Vacuum a cowhide rug with the brush on the vacuum head in the down position for hard floors, and if you can reduce the suction to the lower rug setting that will make it easier. If your vacuum cleaner doesn’t have a rug setting don’t worry this will still work.

Stand in the middle of the cowhide and vacuum from the middle outward running off the edge of the hide and then starting back in the middle again.
