This video shows you how to real with loose strands on your rug and was created by the team at The Rug Seller. It is common for people to pull at the loose strands in an attempt to remove them however this can and often does damage the pile of the rug. The most effective way to remove loose strands and maintain the appearance of the rug is to take a sharp pair of scissors and trim the loose strand level with the rug as shown in the video.

The carpeting in this demonstration are a low cut pile synthetic. In the video I refer to them as berber by mistake. Due to natural surroundings, the debris accumulation was a bit different than the inner-city environment. The carpets contained large amounts of fine dust that stick to the fibers like a magnet. Although vacuuming on a regular basis is essential to prolonging the longevity of carpeting, a good encapsulation solution contains properties that release debris from carpeting and allow vacuuming to be more effective for a period of time.
