When you are ready to clean your carpet there are several ways that you can accomplish this. Here are the two best ways:
Hot water extraction or steam cleaning—although this method is called “steam cleaning” you do not use any steam. Instead you use hot water that is between one hundred fifty and two hundred degrees Fahrenheit. This water is spread on the carpet using a high pressure method from the steam cleaning machine to help loosen the dirt and particles from the carpet and then is sucked up and stored into a holding tank for you to empty. One thing to remember is that you need to mix a cleansing solution or some type of detergent to the water. The hot water will help to kill any fungus, dust mites, and bacteria in the carpet and is one of the best methods to use to clean your carpet. If you do not own a carpet steam cleaner you can rent one.
Carpet shampooing—with this method of cleaning your carpet a shampoo or spray made specifically for carpet cleaning is applied to your carpet which will turn to foam as it is applied. The foam ingredients attract the dirt in your carpet while it dries. Once it has dried it become brittle and will separate itself from your carpet’s fibers. You can now use your vacuum cleaner to collect the remains. Because it is a do-it-yourself job and does not require any professional help this is one of the most common ways people choose to clean their carpets. It is also the method that is most economical. The only drawback is you have to stay off the carpet until it dries.
