Dry Carpet Cleaning vs.Steam-Cleaning
In this demo we compare the “Bonnet” method of Dry cleaning to commercial truck mounted steam cleaning. This dry cleaning system is still widely used today however scaled back since encapsulation came on the scene. This is not the current form of methods of Chem-Dry today (Only a pad from them) which uses “The Natural” and a pre agitation step which does help to clean. But still not comparable to steam cleaning and the video demo shows the most typical Bonnet procedure used today. Worthy to mention Chem_Dry did only offer this as their primary system for over a decade while preaching the evils of hot water extraction only to ironically eat their words and switch to hot water extraction a.k.a “Steam Cleaning” themselves.
My opinion is bonnet cleaning is the equivalent to rubbing yourself down with wet towels compared to taking a shower. Just imagine bringing a buffer to clean a crime scene. Or attempting to clean feces, urine or vomit with a spinning cotton pad.
Facts:
1. Chem Dry technicians preached the evils of steam cleaning for 20 years to the public but in the late 1990’s switched to “Steam Cleaning”.
2. Zerorez claims to be the only non residue carpet cleaners. Dirt Blasters were non residue and “Green” cleaners over a decade before they even came in to existence.
3. The world’s largest manufacture of carpets Shaw Industries will void your carpet warranty if any other system than “Hot water extraction” AKA “Steam cleaning is used.
4. The CDC recommends only steam cleaning carpets in cases of infectious health conditions.
The moral of the story is if you can’t wait a few hours for your carpets to dry and you choose a “Dry” system you will be sacrificing an actual effective, deep and sanitary cleaning for convenience. Also heavy rotating pads of any kind are another way of voiding carpet warranties since the weight and rubbing can untwist and damage cut pile carpet fiber.
