The importance of the “24 Hours Dye Bleed Test” before washing a Oriental rug cannot be stressed enough. Prior to fully washing a rug like the one here always test dyes (each color) by wetting them with the detergent you plan on using for at least 24 hours. If you are trying to do spot cleaning only, and the process doesn’t allow for a proper test make sure to wet only the areas you are spot cleaning and dry it fast, using a fan or hairdryer.
